This is really 2 different questions.
What effects do you use - the brand.
What effects do you use - settings or types.
My favorite brands are TC, Lexicon and Digitech and Alesis. My favorite effects to run on Sax are reverb, delay with reverb, detune with reverb and harmony with reverb.
Any other cool ideas? What are you experimenting with right now? _________________ SAXBOY
I actually use the effects processor built-in to Adobe Audition (for recording). But I am getting a Behringer 1204FX mixer with a built in effects, so that should be interesting. In my early days of sax recording where my computer mic was the crappiest mic ever invented, I used to drown my tracks in reverb and echo (and sometimes in chamber reverb or quickverb). Now I just add a touch of reverb and leave the rest alone UNLESS I'm doing sax recordings for this new band I'm in, where we're doing more techno/eutrance stuff/ then I bulk up on the effects and add flanger and sweeper and etc. But for typical recording, I use minimal reverb. _________________ JP

I use Reverb most the time.
I often add some delay, either a slap to fatten the sound or longer - 225-260 ms delay for ballads to sweeten the pot.
I often use a double or detune for real rock sounding stuff. I don't like the sound of the chorus as much.
For the most aggressive stuff I might Double, Slap and even add an octave harmony to sound pretty crazy - possibly a fifth for a more out feel. _________________ SAXBOY

If you take a look at how much you spend on a mouthpiece, you'll see effects are really cheap. 150.00 can by used or new entry level stuff that works 100% better than nothing.
