in the studio- i feel like you've gotta have the real thing. need a grand piano sound? use a grand piano. need a wurlitzer sound? bring a wurly. there's just absolutely nothing worse than a horribly sampled sound from a keyboard. now, in a live situation, sometimes its impossible to bring these things to gigs (although, my last tour, i actually did bring that rediculously heavy Rhodes everywhere i went)- but in this case, i think keyboards are better. a 20 pound board and a stand, some rack gear, and a chair is definitely better than having a grand piano, a Rhodes, and a Hammond B3 to move, hands down.
