insopriation i have personally met mindi abair, at least 4 times now. and she has got to be one of the friendliest people i have ever met. she truly is an inspiration!

i agreeYou are right smooth jazz is not real jazz. In fact it is not even jazz at all! It is pop music, but because people have to label things they called it smooth jazz because it is instrumental pop. When there aren't any vocals in pop music, they call it smooth jazz because "jazz instruments" are being used. It should just be called instrumental pop but smooth jazz just sounds cooler. |

...I think some "smooth jazz" can be jazz, it just depends on what it really is...If you're going by what they play on radio stations, some of it is real jazz from the 60s and 70s (they usually play What a Wonderful World and things like that) and some fusion jazz. Actually, I think some "smooth jazz" is a fusion of jazz and R&B (Walter Beasley's kind of stuff), and others are fusions of jazz and soul/other stuff like that. Since smooth jazz is so vague a term, no one really knows what anyone else is talking about. But all that aside, smooth jazz is usually pop with a flat 5th thrown in here and there. |
