Not that big of a Sanborn fan. Too many people try to sound exactly like him . Granted, there is a reason for that, but I still just haven't been able to get into it too much.

Sanborn is pop alto. He was the guy that sounded good on anything pop on alto. I don't know if anyone sounded like that back then. He started the whole thing, playing with Paul Butterfield Blues band and even Stevie Wonder.
I remember hearing him for the first time and I didn't really like his sound much because it sounded different. It grew on me and lots of others too.
Remember the old joke.
The 4 Stages of a musicians life -
Who's David Sanborn?
Get me David Sanborn.
Get me a young David Sanborn.
Who's David Sanborn?
He's still kicking pretty hard! _________________ SAXBOY
Well, I understand that David Sanborn is/was POP SAXOPHONE. But it doesn't mean he has to be one of my favorites. I listen to him because I know I need to, and there are elements of his playing that I enjoy, but I could not listen to Sanborn all day like I could with many other artists.

Yea, Jimmy Dorsey was pretty amazing. I think he was the only guy in Selmer History to have his own model of Saxophone - the Jimmy Dorsey Selmer. Think that is pretty cool too!
