Yup, Bari is my specialty. I do have an alto, but I never play it. Too many alto's where I am and only like 4 bari players. BUT we do only have 2 tenors in our whole school, so once I get a job and save up I might get a tenor and double on that. But no matter what, Bari Sax is what I'm good at. _________________ No one can resist good ol' PapaBehr
By the way sksaxgirl, they still make the old Classic (4R, etc) Rousseau pieces along with the New Classic (NC4, etc) pieces. Tastes vary but alto players usually prefer the New Classics, while tenor player tend to favor the old Classics.
JPsaxman, most Rousseau players are "Mule school" players like Eugene Rousseau. Most "Rascher school" players use large-chamber Buescher, Caravan, or Rascher pieces. _________________ www.hornimprovement.com

Shannon, it seems to me that most flute players who move to sax have a darker sound; maybe it's the nature of the airstream? Or the player...=P. _________________ JP
Not sure. I don't know any other flute players that moved to saxophone to compare with. I think that what you hear is what you sound like. Each person has their own unique voice on their instruments that is influenced by everything they have ever heard, tried to emulate, or any other experience (whether musical or not).
Since I did begin on flute (an experience), it most likely did have an influence on the way that I sound on saxophone. I don't see how it couldn't, but I wouldn't say that the reason I have a dark sound is because I started on flute. It's all subjective.
Summary: I believe I have a dark sound on saxophone that is possibly influenced by my flute playing but not caused by it.
