you know, there are tons of great artists out there that can really play, and sing too (harry connick, arturo sandoval, elton john, etc.), but i mean honestly, a lot of musicians really try to do this, and its hilarious. i think the best i've ever heard, has come out of Oteil Burbridge. now, that boy can sing. _________________ Have a great day, and Groove On!
No, no. By musicians who sing, I meant singers who actually use their voice as an instrument and not do the lame singer thing:
Singer: "Let's do 'Fly Me To The Moon'"
Musician: "What key?"
Singer: "I don't know. Let me sing you the first few notes. Fly me to the moon..."
Musician: "Well, where do you want it?"
Singer: "Whatever is fine with me."
*Band Starts*
*singer comes in in a different key than they initially sang and a completely different tempo*
That is what I mean by a singer (example about) and a musician who sings (kurt elling, dianne reeves).
But as far as musicians (like instrumentalists) who can sing, I have to give my vote to bass player Richard Bona.
